A superb pitching performance by starter Lance Lynn carried the Rangers to a 3-2 victory over the Rockies at Coors Field on Friday night. The Rangers, in second place in the American League West, have won six of their last seven games.

Lynn allowed two runs, one earned, in pitching the Rangers’ first complete game of the season. He allowed just two hits in his first complete game since 2014.

Lynn (3-0, 1.11 ERA) struck out six, with three of them coming when he retired the side in order in the eighth. Lynn allowed one run in the first on a couple of singles and weak ground balls. The other run scored in the sixth on a throwing error by catcher Jeff Mathis and a grounder that got past shortstop Elvis Andrus for another error.

The Rangers went ahead in the top of the eighth after Derek Dietrich, who was pinch-hitting for Mathis, was hit by a pitch from reliever Daniel Bard. Dietrich has reached base in five straight plate appearances for the Rangers.

Shin-Soo Choo then bounced a grounder through the right side, moving Dietrich to third. Isiah Kiner-Falefa, who struck out in his first three at-bats, brought the run home with a ground ball up the middle that shortstop Trevor Story turned into a double play.

Nick Solak provided the Rangers’ offense with three of their first four hits, including his first home run of the season in the fifth. The Rangers were down 2-1 in the seventh when Solak doubled with one out and scored on a single by Rougned Odor.
