Luke Littler has sent more records tumbling after he became the youngest player to hit a televised nine-darter at the Bahrain Masters.
The teenager became an overnight sensation when he reached the final of the World Darts Championship last month aged just 16.
Now playing in just his second professional event, the youngster has broken more records after he hit a nine-darter in the first leg of his quarter-final bout against World No.4 Nathan Aspinall.
‘The Nuke’, who turns 17 on Sunday, began with back-to-back 180s before taking out a 141 finish to send the crowd in Bahrain wild.
In doing so, he becomes the youngest player to hit a televised nine-darter, surpassing the previous record set by Michael van Gerween who was 17 years old when he threw a perfect leg in 2007.
Littler is also just the second player to hit a nine-darter at a World Series event after the legendary Phil Taylor in 2015.
Littler went on to win 6-3 against Aspinall with an average of 104.5, advancing to this evening’s semi-finals where he will face Gerwyn Price.
‘I’m just glad to win; I played really well there,’ an elated Littler told ITV after his win.
‘It’s good to get a nine-darter on TV and obviously, the first one of the year goes to me. I hope I hit a few more!’
On his hopes for the rest of the tournament, which concludes this evening, Littler said: ‘I just take it game by game. If I do win, I win but if I do lose my next game it is what it is. But I don’t think about losing I just think about winning.’
