Luis Sinisterra: 5 things you didn’t know

Sinisterra #Sinisterra

Winger Luis Sinisterra has become the Cherries’ latest summer arrival, joining on loan from Leeds United.

At 24 years old, the Colombian has both youth and experience on his side having played at both club and international level.

Arriving from the Whites, Sinisterra has also turned out for Once Caldas and Dutch giants Feyenoord.

Here are five things you might not have known about the club’s new recruit…

1. Colombian beginnings

As mentioned above, Sinisterra played for Once Caldas earlier in his career and that was where he came through the youth ranks.

Making his debut for the Colombian side as a 16-year-old, he went on to make 47 appearances for the White, scoring six and assisting five.

Once Caldas are based in Manizales in Sinisterra’s home nation and play their football in the Categoría Primera A at the top of the Colombian football pyramid.

2. Feyenoord centurion

Cherries’ new signing made his switch to the Dutch city of Rotterdam in the summer of 2018, signing permanently for Feyenoord.

His debut for the club would follow soon after and the tricky wideman quickly gained the adoration of supporters at de Kuip.

Sinisterra would go on to make over 100 appearances for Feyenoord, settling on 113 with 35 goals and 29 assists when he departed for Leeds.

3. International goalscorer

During his time in the Netherlands, 27 of his appearances for last season’s Eredivisie champions came in European competitions.

In both the qualifying stages and proper competitions of the Europa League and Europa Conference League, Sinisterra netted 13 goals and provided seven assists.

Not only is the left-sided attacker a goalscorer on the international stage at club level, but he has also scored three goals for Colombia, the first in a 4-1 win over Guatemala.

4. Record-breaker

When Sinisterra departed Rotterdam for Yorkshire last summer, he broke a record in doing so.

The reported €25m fee which it took for the Whites to get him was the largest transfer fee ever received by Feyenoord.

That total has only since been matched and not bettered, that being when Orkun Kökcü departed for Benfica earlier this summer.

5. Cherries compadre

Having played together for Feyenoord, Sinisterra has an existing friendship with Cherries defender Marcos Senesi.

With the South American connection, the two had a clear bond during their time in South Holland.

Both players were welcomed back to de Kuip in November 2022 for an ‘official farewell’ having left in the preceding summer.
