Lucas, a member of NCT and the group’s Chinese subunit WayV, has parted ways with the group, he announced on Instagram.
The idol wrote a letter, saying that this “difficult decision” comes “after much deliberation and reflection[.]”
Lucas thanked the members for their friendship and support through the years.
“I sincerely feel sorry for the members, and it is with a heavy heart that I leave behind a long-standing friendship. It has been nearly 8 years since I first joined the members, and I am deeply grateful for their care and support. I will cherish these memories and never forget,” he said.
“I hope that the members will remember me as Huang Xuxi, not just Lucas. I genuinely love them and will always support them from the bottom of my heart,” Lucas added.
Lucas added that he believes that leaving the groups “is the right decision for the good of all.”
According to Lucas, he will pursue individual projects.
“Moving forward, I intend to muster the courage to face the fans who have been waiting for me and to pursue individual endeavors. I believe the best way to repay the fans who support me is by continuing to deliver outstanding performances,” he said.
“I will strive to become a more mature Huang Xuxi and an even better Lucas,” the K-Pop idol added.
Before ending his letter, Lucas thanked his fans for their support.
“Lastly, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the fans and everyone who has continually supported me.”
Since 2021, Lucas has been on hiatus following statements from his ex-girlfriends about his cheating, gaslighting, and gold digging. SM said he took time off to reflect on his actions.
Aside from NCT and WayV, Lucas is also a member of SuperM.
Lucas’ letter came after SM Entertainment announced the development, saying said the move was a mutual decision following their discussion.
Lucas is already a top trending topic on Philippine Twitter following the news, with many fans offering each other support.
