LSU football score updates vs. Florida State in Brian Kelly’s Tigers debut

NEW ORLEANS – LSU football will look to score its first win in the Brian Kelly era when it faces off against Florida State in the season opener on Sunday (6:30 p.m. CT, ABC) at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
The Tigers (0-0) head into the season opener against the Seminoles (1-0) following an offseason that was defined by change. Besides Kelly being lured from Notre Dame, LSU changed out every member of its coaching staff except for one and added 16 players from the transfer portal.
The revamp was needed after the program finished last season with a thud. LSU lost 42-20 in the Texas Bowl with a wide receiver starting at quarterback and less than 40 scholarship players available to play.
It was the low point of a steep decline the Tigers had been on since winning the national championship in 2019. In the two years since the title, LSU posted just an 11-12 record.
