Love Island’s Montel McKenzie has cleared the air regarding his split from fellow Islander Leah Taylor, denying he had been cheating on her.
Montel and Leah got together during the latest season of ITV2’s dating show. The pair abruptly called it quits only two weeks after their exit, despite previously saying they were excited about navigating their romance in the outside world.
In a video posted on his TikTok, Montel has now shut down cheating rumours.
“Obviously I’ve been seeing my name circulating in the media a bit, a bit of bad press and rumours being spread so I just thought I’d come on here and address everything,” he said in the clip.

“First of all, they are just rumours. People are saying I cheated on Leah twice, etc. I can confirm I never, ever cheated on her. I would never, ever do that. I think if you hear the way I speak about her, you would know that I would be stupid to do that.”
Montel also explained that Leah wasn’t happy with some Love Island reunion pictures, possibly alluding to him appearing to be too close to Tink Reading, with whom he had locked lips in Casa Amor.
“The situation that did happen is we were at an event, and all the Islanders were there. Previous Islanders from other years and Islanders from my season. Leah was not, she was in [Manchester] at the time. So we were just there enjoying ourselves, having a good time,” he said.
“With what happened at Casa, that whole situation… Pictures came out and Leah wasn’t happy with the positioning of the pictures that people were posting.
“Basically, [Leah] wasn’t happy with how the people were positioned in the picture. She said it made her feel a type of way, she wasn’t happy. It made her feel stupid etc, which I do understand because obviously something previously had happened. I get it.”

“I just wanted to be with [Leah] at the time… So please guys, it’s not a cheating thing,” he said.
Last month, Leah addressed their split, saying she and Montel had decided to stay friends.
“I feel like life is a lot different in [the villa] and outside here. A lot more things come up and different situations happen,” she told The Sun.
“Once we’d spoken about it, we agreed that it’s not how we thought it would be. It’s sad, but at the same time I know we’re both on the same page.”
Love Island airs on ITV2 and streams on ITVX.
