Love Island: Sammy asks Jess to be his girlfriend

Love Island’s Sammy and Jess are the first couple in the villa to go official as their romance progressed to a new level.

The 22-year-old Project Manager popped the question during yesterday’s episode of the ITV2 dating show, when he rallied the other Islanders to help him as he asked the fiery blonde to be his girlfriend.

During the grand romantic gesture, Sammy poured his heart out to Jess as he said: “I feel like I don’t get feelings easy, and like, it’s big for me. Even just being in the Hideaway last night, being in there, just the two of us… it felt good.”

“Obviously we’ve been here for a while now. Six weeks in here is like six months on the outside and I feel like I know you inside and out. I really like how things are going.”

He then asked the other Islanders, who were hiding on the terrace, to pop the question to Jess for him as she screamed an excited: “Yes!”

However, some fans are convinced that Sammy has a secret agenda for making the aesthetics practitioner his girlfriend – as he once openly stated that Jess is not his “usual type.”

On social media, one fan said: “Sorry this is so performative from sammy i love jess but babe this guy is dying for that 50k.”

Another viewer penned: “The pressure is getting worse in that villa. People are battling for that 50k aggressively. Sammy and Jess hmmmm.”

Whilst a third person wrote: “Sammy thinks he’s sly. He pulled along Jess and now he sees the final with 50k he wants to be the first one that’s bf/gf.”

The night before, the pair had a steamy night in the villa’s Hideaway after their romance had been on rocks for weeks. Tensions arose between the pair when Sammy chose to couple up with Amber Wise once his Casa Amor experience was over.

Prior to getting together with Amber, the 22-year-old was in a couple Mal Nicol, an ex-girlfriend of former Love island star Jay Younger.

Jess called out Sammy on his head being turned when a new bombshell walks into the villa, whilst others stayed loyal to the person they were in a couple with. Despite the tense spat, both were able to reconcile and eventually close themselves off from others.
