Love Island were reeling after Jacque O’Neill’s brutal jibe at Gemma Owen.

The two Islanders were previously a couple before they entered the Majorcan Villa as contestants on this season of the popular ITV dating programme. Gemma has coupled up with Luca Bish and Jacques is partnered with Paige Turley.

Luca has become close friends with Jacques and he claimed the reason their relationship failed was because she didn’t like him going out with his friends. Luca quizzed Gemma, who hit back at his remarks.

She said: “I don’t like a party boy. I don’t like someone who goes out every weekend but if you want to go out occasionally with the lads then I am 100% not going to tell you otherwise. With Jacques, at the end of the relationship, I did not trust him”

Gemma confronted Jacques about his remarks. She said: “It’s just annoying that obviously you and Luca have been saying stuff and it is unfair. I have not said one bad thing about you.”

The two reached a stalemate in their argument as Gemma said: “This is why it ended because we couldn’t agree. There’s no point in us having this conversation because you’re gonna say one thing and I’m gonna say another. If you don’t have anything nice or good to say then you can f**k off.”

Jacques shot back at the remarks and said: “Well you’re a clown, so shut up”. Viewers following the show on Twitter were taken aback after the fiery exchange.

Rosey said: “Jacques called Gemma a clown and Paige pathetic all in the same episode I need to him to gooo”

Grace added: “Did he call her a clown!”

Lopes commented : “The more I watch Love Island I realise I actually dislike Jacques like was it necessary to say “shut up you clown” to Gemma when she called you out rightfully so”

Kayleigh tweeted: “Jacques omg”

Hannah messaged: “Nah I’m still reeling off that. A clown!?”
