Love Island 2021: Viewers unhappy as Aaron couples up with Shannon and shuns Kaz and Faye

Love Island viewers weren’t happy with events host Aaron Francis after he decided to couple up with model Shannon Singh during Monday night’s episode, despite her not showing interest in him.

Aaron, 24, shunned both Kaz Kamwi and Faye Winter in favour of Shannon, 22, despite both of the latter stepping forward for him during this season’s opening show.

Fans took to Twitter to air their grievances, with one tweeting: ‘Aaron has really disturbed my peace. With his sauceless self. How do you pick a girl who doesn’t even want you? Pathetic!’ [sic]

Another added: ‘Wtf aaron?! lmao how can you skip the two women who stepped forward & pick someone who did NOT step forward for you?’ with a third echoing: ‘Nah Aaron is arrogant #LoveIsland.’

A fourth social media user sarcastically asked: ‘Kaz Stepped forward for Aaron and he slighted her?’ with a fifth penning: ‘Aaron’s first mistake picking someone that didn’t even step forward for you.’ [sic]

A sixth Twitter user accused Aaron of being ‘shameless’, saying: ‘Does Aaron have no shame picking someone who didn’t even step forward for him?’

Others added: ‘Aaron babe, read the room, Shannon HATES you,’ and ‘How can Aaron just hijack that girl that didn’t want him? I still can’t believe it.’

What’s more, Aaron wasn’t even able to remember Scottish model Shannon’s name, despite choosing to be coupled up with her, simply referring to her as ‘number five’.

Later on in the first episode of the much-anticipated seventh season of the ITV2 reality show, Shannon admitted that Aaron ‘wasn’t her type’.

It comes after Aaron revealed to The Daily Star earlier in June that he is cousins with Made In Chelsea’s Hugo Taylor, telling the paper: ‘Hugo is my cousin. I haven’t seen him in a while. We aren’t that close. But if I ever wanted to ask him for advice, I could. I’m quite close to his dad, too.’

He added: ‘Being related to Hugo and seeing what life is like for him means I can gauge what it is like to be on a TV show.’

The budding reality star added that he is also friends with influencers, saying: ‘I am friends with a couple of influencers. 

‘But I haven’t dated anyone in the public eye before. And I haven’t done any TV before.’
