A man has been arrested after being accused of threatening Jefferson County Public Schools students who were on a bus ride home, an incident that made waves in Louisville after a video from the scene was posted on social media.
Delvantae King was charged Friday with two counts of second-degree terroristic threatening along with menacing and second-degree disorderly conduct, according to a Louisville Metro Police arrest citation. His bond was set at $5,000 and posted, court records show.
In his arrest citation, King is accused of boarding the bus, which was full of students from Carter Elementary School, and threatening a girl believed to be about 10 years old, at one point stating he would “flip this whole bus and everybody on it.” In the video, filmed on Aug. 26, children can be seen in distress, with the arrest citation saying several could be seen crying.
King admitted to being on the bus in interviews with JCPS and LMPD, according to the citation. He spoke with WAVE in the aftermath of the incident as well, telling the TV station his daughter had been bullied by a student on the bus and apologizing for the “out of character” outburst.
