Looks like Lineker broke rules on a technicality – ex-BBC boss

On the face of it Gary Lineker’s tweet broke BBC impartiality rules on a technicality, says a former BBC director general.

But Mark Thompson, who ran the BBC from 2004 – 2012, did say impartiality rules do have “grey area”.
