  • J-Hope sang 18 songs at the Chicago event
  • He performed “Chicken Noodle Soup” live with Becky G
  • Korean social media app Weverse crashed Sunday as millions logged in to watch a live broadcast of J-Hope’s performance at the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago.

Dubbed “Hobipalooza” by J-Hope’s supporters, the music festival was considered a highly-anticipated event after the boy band member announced his participation in June. But eagerness turned to dismay Sunday after Weverse crashed, sending millions of viewers in frustration just a few minutes into the event.

The topics “#jhopeAtLollapalooza,” “#HOBIPALOOZA” and “Weverse” trended on Twitter as upset fans recalled their experience.

“OMG DID YOU SEE HOBI? No cause ARMY crashed WEVERSE live,” a fan tweeted.

“Me trying to watch the performance without the Weverse live crashing,” another supporter wrote, along with a video of a woman trying desperately to revive an unconscious friend.

J-Hope was the first South Korean musician to headline the famous music festival. He performed on the last night of this year’s Lollapalooza festival Sunday at the Bud Light Seltzer stage.

Many others, including Dua Lipa, Lil Baby, Metallica, Machine Gun Kelly, J. Cole, The Kid Laroi, Charlie XCX and Kygo were also part of this year’s event. BTS’ label mates, Tomorrow x Together, also performed in front of a large crowd Saturday at the Solana x Perry’s stage. Fellow BTS member Jimin flew to Chicago to support his friend and junior labelmates in the event.

The “Dynamite” singer sang a total of 18 songs in his 70-minute performance, which included eight of the 10 tracks from his newly-released solo album, “Jack in the Box.” J-Hope also performed five tracks from his 2018 mixtape, “Hope World.” He sang “Baseline,” “Hangsang,” “P.O.P (Piece of Peace) Pt. 1,” “Daydream” and “Hope World.”

One of his most-applauded numbers was his live performance of “Chicken Noodle Soup” with Mexican singer Becky G.

On Twitter, fans celebrated J-Hope’s first live performance of the famous track.

“BECKY G AND HOBI ARE SO HOT?????????? WOAHHHH,” a supporter wrote.

Another fan took note of the singers’ interaction during the musical number and tweeted, “The cutest Hobi and Becky G interaction!!”

There were reportedly 14.9 million real-time views on Weverse during Sunday’s event.
