Lizzo’s spring-inspired make-up at the 2023 Grammys was pure joy

Lizzo #Lizzo

Pop megastar and Grammy award winner Lizzo is a seasoned pro at serving phenomenal fashion and beauty looks on the red carpet. Whether its blonde graffitied hair or matching hot pink bouffant and eyeshadow at the 2019 Met Gala, there’s never a dull moment when Lizzo’s on the guest list.

Naturally, yesterday’s 2023 Grammy Awards did not disappoint. The ‘About Damn Time’ singer brought springtime glory to the red carpet in a bright tangerine custom Dolce & Gabbana corseted, Swarovski-trimmed number complete with a resplendent floor-grazing Opera cape embellished with three dimensional silk roses.

The vibrant hue of the ensemble informs Lizzo’s beauty look with matching cherry pink eyeshadow and blush. “Flushed, diffused cherry cheeks! A fresh approach to this spring colour story,” said make-up artist Alexx Mayo on his Instagram.

Mayo used Charlotte Tilbury’s new Pillow Talk Matte Beauty Blush Wand in Dream Pop, blended from the cheeks and onto eyelids to create a soft-focus finish with no harsh lines, much like a flower petal. Mayo also used a light dusting of Charlotte Tilbury Instant Eye Palette in Pillow Talk and the gentlest stroke of Feline Flick in Panther on the lash line. To anchor the look, he applied ’60s mod era-inspired lashes by Velour Beauty.

As for Lizzo’s flawless complexion, Mayo prepped the skin with Charlotte Tilbury Cryo-Recovery Face Mask to take down any puffiness and Charlotte’s Magic Cream to boost moisture before going in with base make-up. He used the Beautiful Skin Foundation in 12N and Beautiful Skin Radiant Concealer in 11.75. The brand’s Beauty Light Wand in Spotlight lends extra gleam to cheekbones. To balance the statement eyes, lips were kept on the richer, more neutral side with Lip Cheat in Walk Of No Shame and Matte Revolution Lipstick in Sexy Sienna.

Lizzo’s manicure was a talking point too. Nail artist Eri Ishizu moulded 3D flowers with acrylics on a base polish of OPI Silicon Valley Girl, while tiny diamantés not only add extra dazzle, but is also a nod to the Swarovski crystals on the gown.
