Lizzo and Adele Were Hanging at the Grammys, and Now Fans Are Calling for a Collaboration

Two undisputed titans of female power united at the 65th Grammy Awards at the Crypto.com theatre in downtown Los Angeles and caused fans to go into meltdown. Yes, we’re talking Adele and Lizzo.

After exchanging air kisses, the pair sat opposite each other at a table and were deep in conversation over a bunch of roses—both on the table and adorning Lizzo’s custom Dolce and Gabbana cape and dress. (Adele, meanwhile, wore custom Louis Vuitton.) The superstar singers looked engrossed in each other’s company as they sat front row at the ceremony. Oh to be a fly on one of those, erm, roses.

Both artists were nominated at tonight’s ceremony, Adele with a whopping seven nominations and Lizzo—who also performed—with five to her name. Both were also nominated in Album of the Year category, Lizzo for Special and Adele for 25.

Fans instantly took to social media to joke and speculate about what the two women could be discussing. One Twitter user said, “Adele is sitting with lizzo. mic them up!!! wanna hear the mess.”

As do we. As do we.

Earlier this month, Lizzo spoke about the pair’s friendship and revealed that she wanted to play the flute for Adele! Asked if a potential collaboration might be on the cards, Lizzo told The Sunday Mirror, “We’ve never talked about that,” she said. “You know, what I’d do with Adele is play the flute. I’d play flute as she is that kind of artist.”

She also spoke about how supportive Adele is of her career. “When she first came out the culture was so different, and especially with social media,” Lizzo acknowledged. “Adele called me and was like, ‘Lizzo, how do you fucking do it? Are you okay? Do you want to come over and drink some wine? Do you want to talk?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah…’”

Last year, Lizzo gave some further insight into their friendship when she spoke in an interview with Andy Cohen about how they share the same star sign (Taurus) and how similar they are. “So she’s so supportive and she really believes in me,” she said.

“We’re both Tauruses, and when we’re together, the decibels of how loud we get with our laughter is incredible. We really are super similar and we don’t really fuck with too many people, but we fuck with each other,” Lizzo said.

She also revealed that it was at the Grammys a number of years ago that the pair first met. So it’s officially their friendiversary. “I met her at a Grammy party. I think it was Mark Ronson’s Grammy party years ago and she was like, ‘Oh my God!’ and I was like, ‘This is fucking Adele!’ I like her. She a ghetto bitch like me.”

Would a Lizzo Adele collaboration with a flute be too much to hope for in the next year’s Grammys? We can but dream….
