Darwin Núñez was frustrated on Sunday when he had not one but two goals disallowed for offside inside the first 27 minutes of Liverpool’s Premier League encounter with Brentford.

The first incident came in the 22nd-minute, when Dominik Szoboszlai’s scuffed effort was turned in by the Uruguayan, but a VAR check showed he was just offside.

And five minutes later Núñez had the ball in the net with an acrobatic finish from Joël Matip’s flick-on, but VAR again intervened and offside was the decision.

A frustrating start an Anfield, but Núñez was smiling later in the first half, when he assisted Mohamed Salah for the opening goal.
