Live updates: Detroit Lions face Packers in big-time finale under the lights

First quarter

8:32 — Detroit Lions drive starts on Green Bay’s 31

Not much going, with a run for nearly nothing and two incompletions bringing Michael Badgley and the field goal team out. And it’s good. Lions 3, Packers 3

10:27 — Green Bay Packers drive starts on own 23

Third-and-1 — Aaron Jones keeps those feet moving, and appears to have enough to move the chains. Just kidding, the Lions get a solid mark, and it’s fourth-and-inches. The Packers get cute, running the misdirection to receiver Allen Lazard, and Detroit’s defense and Alex Anzalone are all over that one.

11:21 — Detroit Lions drive starts on own 25

Three-and-out for the offense. Jamaal Williams runs for 3 yards, then Jared Goff throws two incompletions. Kenny Clark making noise for the Packers.

14:55 — Green Bay Packers drive starts on own 21

Christian Watson gets the end-around, taking it for about 6 or 7 yards. Mike Hughes, getting the start, with the tackle. Aaron Jones runs for the first down, and Aaron Rodgers hits Watson for another. A lot of eye candy from those Packers, motion, misdirection, trying to confuse this young defense. Jerry Jacobs tested deep, gets flagged late for pass interference. Packers have it at the 5-yard line — back-to-back stops, hello, Isaiah Buggs, and it’s third-and-goal. Rodgers air mails the last-second hop pass into the end zone. Field goal is good. Packers 3, Lions 0

Lions eliminated from playoffs by Seahawks’ OT win against Rams

Detroit Lions draft selection via Rams sticks at Pick 6 after LA’s Week 18 loss

Seahawks go three-and-out. Baker Mayfield looks deep, and it’s ex-Lions safety Quandre Diggs with the momentous interception. And Kenneth Walker, the former Michigan State star isn’t helping. The Seahawks are down to LA’s 25-yard line. Myers gets a chance at redemption from 32 yards — and it’s good. The Lions have been eliminated form the postseason. Tough break.

Overtime is underway, the Seahawks start with the ball.

Seahawks spike it with three seconds on the clock from the 30-yard line. Here comes the potential 46-yard game-winning kick — wow, Jason Myers smacks the upright, and it’s no good. The Lions and their postseason dreams have life.

The Seahawks are getting the ball back. Will take over at the 20-yard line, with no timeouts and 56 seconds on the clock. Geno Smith takes off, passes midfield, then gets cracked in the ribs late. The Seahawks are in field-goal range after that, with about 30 seconds to go here. Unbelievable.

Inactives: CB Jeff Okudah ruled out for Lions finale due to elbow injury

It’s 16-16, and we’re at the two-minute warning, the Rams have the ball. Whew, take a breath.

Smith throws another interception, with the Rams taking over near the end of the third quarter, protecting a slim lead. Can’t make those throws, that’s two picks by star corner Jalen Ramsey on the day.

The Rams take the lead back, 16-13, in the third quarter from Seattle. The Seahawks tied things up with a beautiful Geno Smith-Tyler Lockett connection, but Baker Mayfield got LA’s offense back down the field.

The Detroit Lions (8-8) and Green Bay Packers (8-8) close the NFL’s regular season on Sunday Night Football, with postseason implications on the line.

Detroit needs to pair a win against the Packers with the Los Angeles Rams beating the Seattle Seahawks in Week 18. Green Bay simply needs a win to punch its ticket to the playoffs. The Rams lead the Seahawks 13-6 at halftime. We’ll continue to post updates from that game above this text.
