The Marquette men’s basketball team opens the Big East tournament Thursday against St. John’s at Madison Square Garden in a quarterfinal game.
As the Big East regular season champions, the Golden Eagles (25-6) are the No. 1-seeded team and just defeated the Red Storm, 96-94, on Saturday in the regular season finale. St. John’s is 18-14 and seeded eighth.

When does Marquette play next?
If Marquette defeats St. John’s the Golden Eagles advance to the Big East tournament semifinal round set for Friday night. Marquette would play in the first semifinal at 5:30 p.m. against the winner of the UConn-Providence quarterfinal game.
If Marquette loses to St. John’s it then awaits its seeding and opponent for the NCAA Tournament. Marquette will play either next Thursday or Friday in a first-round game at a site that will be announced on Selection Sunday March 12.
