LIVE: Bulldogs axe Kyle Flanagan for NRL clash against Roosters

Any chance of redemption for Bulldogs playmaker Kyle Flanagan against his former club has gone out the window, with coach Trent Barrett axing the 22-year-old from the starting 17.

Flanagan had been named at five-eighth when the team was announced earlier this week, but his name was missing from the final lineup announced an hour before kickoff.

Instead, Lachlan Lewis will start at five-eighth.

Thrown a lifeline by the Bulldogs, Flanagan has endured a difficult 2021 season, dropped after round 10 and only recalled to the side last week with five players unavailable due to COVID-19 breaches.

He had little impact in the 66-0 thrashing at the hands of Manly, and now finds himself back in the wilderness.
