Live as asylum seekers return to Bibby Stockholm barge amid Just Stop Oil and anti-racism protests
Bibby Stockholm #BibbyStockholm
Protesters from Just Stop Oil and anti-racism activists have been out in force as asylum seekers returned to the Bibby Stockholm barge this afternoon (Thursday, October 19). Protesters described the barge as “like a prison” and as “inhumane” as dozens of refugees were bussed to Portland Port in Dorset.
The coach carrying a reported 29 asylum seekers was held up by Just Stop Oil members before arriving at Portland Port. They placed a huge banner before the vehicle which read: “NO PRISON SHIPS”.
The Daily Telegraph reports that of the 39 people taken off the vessel in August, 29 would return, the others having found accommodation with relatives or being exempt from being put back on the barge due to mental-health issues. One had returned to their home country.
