Little Mix’s representative has announced that Jesy Nelson is taking some “extended time off” from the group.

On Tuesday (November 17), the band’s publicist shared on social media that Jesy needed to take some time for herself to deal with a medical issue.

“Jesy is having extended time off from Little Mix for private medical reasons. We will not be issuing any further comment currently and ask media to please respect her privacy at this time,” he tweeted.

The message was met with thousands of responses wishing Jesy well, with fans sending her “so much love and light”, noting that “her health comes first always” and promising to “wait patiently”.

A spokesperson for the group confirmed earlier this month that Jesy would be missing the live finale for the group’s BBC reality show Little Mix: The Search as well as the MTV EMAs.

“Jesy is unwell and will not be appearing on tonight’s final of Little Mix: The Search,” a band representative said earlier this month. “She will also not be hosting or performing at tomorrow’s MTV EMAs [Europe Music Awards].”

Little Mix also tweeted that they were “so sad Jesy [wouldn’t] be joining [them]” to finish off their BBC talent competition.

The Search faced some problems throughout its run, when a COVID-19 outbreak on the set forced the show off the air for one week. At the time, the group’s team confirmed that they’d “tested negative” and were routinely “tested throughout the run of the series”.

Little Mix’s sixth studio album, Confetti, was released on November 6 and features the new hit single ‘Holiday’.
