However, as Lisa Nandy MP was grilled over the deal between Greater Manchester and the government regarding financial support, viewers became irritated as they felt Good Morning Britain hosts Kate Garraway and Ranvir Singh kept interrupting without giving the Shadow Foreign Secretary as chance to answer. Viewers took to Twitter to slam the interview and beg the presenters to let Nandy get her point across.

Addressing the deal between Greater Manchester and the government, Nandy remarked: “I think what we have now is a government that is doing harm to its own citizens.

“I was on a call to Matt Hancock at 4.30pm yesterday afternoon where he was telling Manchester MPs that the only thing that’s now on offer to help Greater Manchester survive this winter is £22 million.

“We were told by the Prime Minister’s adviser that there had been £55million on the table but that was now no longer on offer.

“At the same time, the Mayor of Manchester was learning about that offer via a text message on front of the media at a press conference.

“Later Matt Hancock came to the House of Commons chamber and said that they had offered £60million and that was still on the table.

“It’s really hard to describe how chaotic this process has been over the past 10 days.

“The upshot is that we are going into Tier 3 restrictions after months and months of being in Tier 2 restrictions, people unable to see family and businesses struggling to operate without any help from the government. We’re just in complete shock.”

Singh commented: “The reason it broke down yesterday is because Andy Burnham wanted 65 and he wasn’t given 65 so it obviously, for whatever reason, the government have thrown their toys out the pram and it is 22, and who knows what will happen today.

“The point I’m asking is I just want to know why Andy Burnham asking for £65 million when neighbouring counties accepted £56 million?”

“Because we think that 65 is the absolute basic minimum we can have to help our people and businesses survive over the winter, the reason why Greater Manchester is,” Nandy answered before being cut off by Garraway.

Garraway spoke over the MP as she demanded: “I think Ranvir’s point is why do you need more than those other people?”

“Yeah, I’m trying to explain,” Nandy shot back, to which Garraway apologised: “Okay, I’m sorry.”

Nandy continued: “The reason for a different position from other parts of the country are because we have been in lockdown here since the start of July.

“We have businesses that are reaching up significant amounts of debt because they have been operating under the sorts of restrictions that have just come into force in London for several months, which means they’ve had huge amounts of cost and no financial support from the government but they’ve had to keep operating.”

Singh interrupted: “So you’re saying you’re operating from a much lower base than Liverpool or Lancashire? You need that extra 10 million to make up for that deficit?”

“We are,” Nandy replied. “We’ve also got minimum wage workers who have racked up huge amounts of debt because they have been operating on lower wages, they’ve taken cuts to hours, because of these cuts to restrictions.

“What will happen if we don’t get support is people will start to get evicted from their homes.

Good Morning Britain viewers became annoyed with the constant interruptions and took to Twitter to complain, with one asking: “Sorry, can someone let Nandy speak, please? #GMB.
