The 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards were finally held on Sunday night, two months after they were originally scheduled.  

And while some stars walked the red carpet, others appeared virtually, swapping the red carpet for their living room carpets as the Hollywood stars put on a glamorous appearance from home. 

Lily Collins, 31, Kate Hudson, 41, and Anya Taylor-Joy, 24, were just some of the names who appeared via video link, but of course were sure to dress up for the occasion.

This year’s ceremony, which usually takes place in early January, was pushed back to February 28 as Hollywood continues to adjust to the coronavirus pandemic and new safety guidelines.  

Amy Poehler and Tina Fey returned to host for the fourth time. The comedy duo did the honors in 2013, 2014 and 2015. It was the first ever awards show to be broadcast from two separate coasts. 

Lily shared her opulent Golden Globes outfit with her 23.1 million Instagram followers.

The actress was at one with nature in a gorgeous golden-hour photoshoot ahead of the ceremony, where she was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a TV Series in the comedy or musical category.

This year was a departure, as it marked the first time the Golden Globes were bicoastal due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Amy Poehler hosting from Los Angeles while Tina Fey joined her long-distance from New York City.

Not this year: Lily was competing in the best actress category, but missed out on the prize to comic legend Catherine O’Hara for Schitt’s Creek, which also took home the Best Television series award in the comedy category

The dress got extra texture from bunches of gold beads sewn into it, along with thick gold embroidery. 

Lily was decked out in Cartier jewelry, including a thick ring with interlocking diamonds and a diamond-encrusted bracelet with red tips.

She posed outdoors under a citrus tree, while her black-and-white photos made her look like her character Rita in David Fincher’s film Mank, which was nominated for several Golden Globes.

Lily was competing in the best actress category for television comedies for her hit Netflix series Emily In Paris, which was a soothing early pandemic binge-watch option for many subscribers.

However, the series received somewhat mixed reviews, and it currently has a 63 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but only a 51 percent rotten rating among the most prestigious television critics.

Kate has faced some controversy over her role in Sia’s directorial debut musical film Music. But she is taking the backlash in stride, as awards season gets underway.

The 41-year-old took to Instagram in her red carpet look, a black Louis Vuitton gown with a silver beaded bodice.

Kate told E! News: ‘This is my living room and I’ve got my whole family outside and we’re celebrating. It’s been a long time. It’s fun. There is that moment, though, when you do awards ceremonies and you get in the car and everybody’s waving and then you get to the carpet. 

‘It’s sort of an adrenaline and I do feel like because I’ve got a big family, my mom and my dad are here and my kids are here, we’re trying to really kind of bring a celebratory feeling to it and it’s fun. I think we should do this more often.’

She lost the Golden Globe for Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical to Rosamund Pike for her performance in I Care a Lot.

Rosamund also beat Michelle Pfeiffer (French Exit), Anya Taylor-Joy (Emma) and Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm).

Anya Taylor-Joy made all the right moves when it came to awards night fashion, stunning in not one but two jaw-dropping looks for the virtual show 

She earned her first Golden Globe for the chess drama The Queen’s Gambit at Sunday’s 78th annual honors. 

The American-born, Argentine-British actress started off in a sparkling emerald green Dior dress with a dramatic neckline before slipping into a classic ivory design to accept her Best Actress In A Limited Series honor.

Anya’s first look highlighted her slender 5foot7 figure, dipping low to reveal some delicate decolletage while thin straps revealed her toned arms and bare shoulders. 

The couture ensemble, which was styled by visionary Law Roach, amped up the drama with a matching jacket that billowed around the starlet elegantly.

She was practically dripping in diamonds, clad in nearly $2million of Tiffany & Co. jewels, according to Elle.

Taylor-Joy had her icy blonde locks swept into a deep side part courtesy of hairstylist Gregory Russell, letting them cascade over one side of her face mysteriously. 

After doing pre-awards press in green, Anya changed into outfit number two: a timeless strapless white satin number.

Taylor-Joy was thrilled to win the category against Cate Blanchett (Mrs America), Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People), Shira Haas (Unorthodox) and Nicole Kidman (The Undoing.)

In her acceptance speech, she thanked streaming giant Netflix for ‘letting us make the show we wanted to make.’

‘It’s obviously wonderful that everyone’s seen the show. I would do this project again and again and again; I learned so much. Thank you to the audiences that have watched it and supported the characters. It meant the world.’
