Light morning rain Thursday, then Portland dries out heading into weekend; high 49

Good Thursday #GoodThursday

Light rain moving in from the coast is set to hit Portland around 7 a.m. Thursday and continue into the lunch hour.

The National Weather Service says a front moving eastward will stall over southwest Washington and the Portland/Vancouver area bringing light rain into the region. Rain amounts are expected to be very light.

Areas from about Salem southward may not see any rain at all on Thursday. They will, however, be foggy during the morning hours. The central and southern Willamette Valley are also under an air stagnation advisory that’s been extended through the weekend. Check with your local agencies for any burn bans or air quality warnings.

Portland’s air remains in the “good” range. Once the rain tapers off later Thursday skies will remain cloudy, and the high will reach near 49 degrees.

A drying trend continues Friday as high pressure moves into the area. Portland wills see partly sunny skies and a high of about 51 degrees. East winds will build again toward the mouth of the Columbia River Gorge, peaking in strength Friday afternoon and into the evening. Residents east of about Interstate 205 should expect gusty winds most of the day.

The weekend looks mostly dry with partly sunny days both Saturday and Sunday. Highs will be in the low 50s.

A weak storm system is expected to increase rain chances late Sunday night and into Monday. But the system is moving northward from California and won’t pack a lot of moisture. High temps will also remain mild with highs in the low 50s.
