“Aggressive, rash, Victorian firebrand” Senator Lidia Thorpe has quit the Greens to sit as an independent committed to Indigenous sovereignty, according to Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“I reckon any politicians resigning from their party should also resign from the parliament, I mean, if they think they can be elected under their own banner … then go ahead, try that,” he said.

“But otherwise, they’re fraudulently using a seat that was won by people voting for a particular party that they no longer line up with.
“Nothing will happen, of course, Thorpe is set to serve six years in a seat won by the Greens, and she’ll now be even more of a loose cannon.
“That’ll make life tougher for the Albanese government … and it’s not going to be good for the country, any of this.”
