Lewis Capaldi has epically trolled the Glastonbury crowd after teasing that Ed Sheeran would be joining him on stage.

The Scottish singer, 26, made a return to the stage at the festival on Saturday evening after previously cancelling all of his public commitments to prepare for the gig.

He kicked off his set with his single Forget Me, however soon after he told the audience that he was going to be joined on stage by Ed, who co-wrote his song Pointless.

‘Ed has been in America for the last little while so he’s not been over in the UK doing much, but we’re close friends,’ he began.

‘So I phone him up and say “This weekend I’m playing the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury, it’s a big thing”, we’re good friends…’

The crowd started screaming as Lewis continued: ‘Ladies and gentlemen… Ed Sheeran’.

However he quickly clarified and said he was taking them for a ride.

‘He’s not f***ing here, but it would be cool if he was,’ he laughed as he launched into the song.

Glastonbury 2023 is streaming on BBC iPlayer.
