IHEANACHO REACTS

Leicester star Kelechi Iheanacho hailed his team and Jamie Vardy for the result.

Iheanacho said: “We did it together, the team. It’s not a one-man show.

“I’m happy with the way we stuck together and that I was in the right place at the right time.

“The partnership between Jamie and me is outstanding – he’s got the pace, he’s got everything. He’s a great player and he set up the goal. I think the FA Cup loves me, and I love the FA Cup!

“I’ve been unlucky the past few years, but it’s working out really well now and I need to keep working hard to go to the next level. I can’t wait for the final – wow, it’ll be amazing”

STATS

Southampton dominated a mere majority of 50 per cent of possession and still got eliminated.

Saints failed to register a single shot during first half, but got six in the second half.

However, none of them were on target and thus Kasper Schmeichel had a relatively quiet evening.

Leicester, on the other hand, recorded 10 shots, of which one of them was on target

FT: LEICESTER 1-0 SOUTHAMPTON

Leicester are through to the FA Cup Final after eliminating Southampton.

The Foxes punched their ticket thanks to Kelechi Iheanacho’s winner in a cagey match.

Jamie Vardy drove the ball down the left flank with a beautiful twist around Jan Bednarek and passed to Iheanacho, whose first shot was blocked and the second went behind Fraser Forster’s net after 55 minutes.

Saints were unable to really test Kasper Schmeichel throughout the semi-final
