BAD BOY BALE
It hasn’t even been a month since Spurs cut ties with Jose Mourinho and Gareth Bale is already sending sly digs towards our very own European Championships columnist.
The Welshman hardly figured under Mourinho since returning to North London hence why before the weekend, he had only netted six goals in 15 Premier League appearances.
But Bale’s performance was sensational when Tottenham put four past Sheffield United last Sunday and a large part of that was because he scored three of them.
Real Madrid’s loanee had been handed a second successive start by Ryan Mason and he said that he is appreciative of the free role the interim manager has granted him further forward up the pitch.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the victory over the Blades, Bale’s exact words were: “It’s the fact that we’re more on the front foot, we’re closer to the goal and you’re able to score more. We’re playing football the Tottenham way.”
“I feel good, as I’ve said before I just needed to play games, to get a run of games and I’m doing that now.
“I’m happy and when I’m happy I normally play well. It was a great performance from the first whistle.
“I feel like we were on the font foot and we pressed well, got hold of the ball, played some good football. It’s always nice to get another (hat-trick) ball.”
Towards the end of March, Bale admitted to wanting to return to Real Madrid once his loan comes to a conclusion in the summer. But will the Wales international have a change in heart with a new face at the helm?
