Leeds United suffered defeat away to Brighton on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League – but some of the club’s fans on Twitter did at least give credit to Ian Poveda for his individual display off the bench.
The Whites went into the weekend’s Premier League fixture on a run of six games without defeat, but that was halted by a 2-0 loss at the Amex Stadium.
Brighton, who were desperate for points in their quest to stay in the division, earned a valuable win with an impressive display.
Pascal Gross converted from the penalty spot in the first half for the Seagulls, before Danny Welbeck added a second in the 79th minute to seal the result.
After the weekend, Leeds could find themselves drop into the bottom half of the table again depending on results elsewhere.
A selection of Leeds supporters on social media believe that Poveda at least tried to make a positive impact with his contribution.
The 21-year-old right-winger was positive on the ball after coming on as a half-time substitute for Ezgjan Alioski, but his final ball was lacking, and their was a lack of attacking intent from the visitors during the 90 minutes.
It was clear that the absence of midfield talisman Kalvin Phillips had a huge negative effect on the team.
Here are some Leeds fans discussing Poveda:
