Leaked ‘Halo Infinite’ Forge Footage Actually Looks Awesome

Halo Infinite players have been waiting for something they hoped was going to launch with the game for ages now, Forge mode. And now, at some point during the extremely long season 2, we’re about to get a beta for Forge mode, but some players already have their hands on it in private tests.

Now, naturally, footage is leaking out from Forge mode and it’s showing that it may inject some life into the game given the sheer scale of wackiness you can create with it. I’ve been going through some of these videos, and it sure seems like there’s a lot of potential there.

Here’s one that shows that you can play around with object scaling, which in this case, results in a giant T-posing Master Chief on the field.

Here’s another that shows how you can actually combine weapons for brand new abilities as a result:

This one was actually a glitch from Halo 5 that players had fun with, and it seems 343 has taken that to heart and actually made it a feature for this version of the Forge. Here’s another look at that:

Combined Sentinel Beam and Heatwave, anyone? I mean, no, these are probably not going to be terrible balanced, but fun? Sure, absolutely.

Halo Infinite has struggled since launch to consistently retain players, as its numbers are way down and it’s been forced into these uber-long six month seasons without much new content to show for it. Halo Infinite has been routinely beaten by Halo MCC on Steam, and it’s not a top-played game on Xbox these days, currently in the 18th spot in the top 20.

But Forge mode? This is the first thing I’ve seen from Infinite in a while that looks really promising. I’m not sure what exactly the beta will include, if it will just be messing around with the tools, and then the official launch will be when you can start playing community maps. But when that happens, judging by what I’m seeing here, I’m actually looking forward to that. I mean, I wish it didn’t take almost a year to get here after most players interest has already fled, but still, it’s something, and we’ll see if it can refresh the game in a meaningful way once it arrives.
