Leah Remini filed a lawsuit against the Church of Scientology in early August with claims that they have “stalked, surveilled, harassed, threatened, [and] intimidated” her ever since she exited the religion in 2013. The trauma hasn’t subsided after taking legal action — it’s only gotten worse, according to the 53-year-old actress.

Church leaders haven’t responded to her filing yet, but that hasn’t stopped Remini from escalating the lawsuit with an amended claim. “In the short period of time since Ms. Remini’s Complaint was filed, Ms. Remini and others have been subject to continued, aggressive harassment,” her lawyers wrote in documents obtained by Deadline. The jaw-dropping revelations allege that members of Scientology have trolled her online, accused her of making “threats of and actual violence against the Church,” and have committed credit card fraud against her.
Remini’s complaint also noted that she’s not the only victim because the harassers have extended their bullying to friends in her social circle, including her tutor as well as her Scientology and the Aftermath co-host Mike Rinder, who is currently battling cancer. Rinder believes he is being stalked by the church “to ensure that he does not assist process servers in locating Mr. [David] Miscavige [the head of Scientology] or attempt to serve him personally.” Remini’s lawyers noted that these incidents have caused her “great distress.”

Scientology sent a statement to SheKnows earlier in the month, calling the lawsuit “ludicrous” and “pure lunacy.” They slammed Rimini as “an anti-free speech bigot” and leaned into the narrative that Hollywood doesn’t want to hire her — which is untrue as her new syndicated game show, People Puzzler, premieres nationwide on Sept. 11. The first hearing for the case is Dec. 4 when Remini finally gets her day in court with the Church of Scientology.
