Celtic suffered late heartbreak at the hands of Lazio once again as they were sent crashing out of the Champions League.

Brendan Rodgers knew he needed to win to keep the European adventure alive but after a battling performance in the Stadio Olimpico a Ciro Immobile left the Hoops heartbroken.

Lazio’s record goalscorer was dropped to the bench by Maurizio Sarri but climbed off the bench to net a deadly double – with two goals in the final 10 minutes leaving Celtic shellshocked.

The Hoops were awarded a penalty late in the game after Petri appeared to shove Oh. However, following a VAR review David Turnbull was denied the chance to pull a goal back in the Group E clash.

It leaves Celtic without European football when January rolls around – and with just one point from give group stage games. I

t takes the club to 15 games without a win in European competitions with Brendan Rodgers sent back to the drawing board after a disappointing campaign.
