She will now compete in the final at 1.30pm this afternoon as she aims to bag a fourth gold for Team GB on an incredible Monday.

The Welsh Whirlwind will take on Matea Jelic to determine the winner.

Williams began the day by dismantling Tonga’s Malia Maile Paseka in just 50 seconds to win via TKO.

That advanced her to the quarters where she was able to edge past Egypt’s Hedaya Wahba 13-12.

Now after overcoming Gbagbi the Olympic debutant only has the much-fancied Croat left to overcome.

She also stands on the brink of adding another gold-en moment to what has been an incredible Monday for Team GB so far.

Adam Peaty won Team GB’s first gold of Tokyo 2020 in the 100m breaststroke at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre.

That makes him Britain’s first swimmer ever to defend an Olympic title.

Then Tom Daley ended his wait for Olympic gold alongside Matty Lee in a brilliant performance in the men’s synchronised 10m platform event.

In a nail-biting finale, the British duo watched as Cao Yuan and Chen Aisen performed their final dive.

But they broke into wild celebrations as they realised they had ended China’s grip on the event since 2000.

The 27-year-old Daley wept on the podium as he claimed his first gold in his fourth Olympic Games as Lee, 23, took the top prize at the first time of asking.

Tom Pidcock then blew away the rest of the field to claim gold in the cross country mountain biking to continue a manic Monday.

The 21-year-old Brit was simply in a different league as he twisted, turned and climbed his way through the trees and trails of the Izu MTB Course.

And he held off the challenge of Swiss world No1 Mathias Fluckiger to win by 20 seconds.

The Leeds star crossed the line in 1:25.14 carrying the Union Jack thrown to him by a fan on the final straight as he was crowned Olympic champ.
