Laura K. Showalter, age 74, of South Wayne, WI, entered into rest Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at her residence surrounded by family.
Laura was born June 13, 1947 in Terre Hill, PA, the daughter of Phares M. and Lena B. (Kurtz) Huber. One June 13, 1970, she was united in marriage with Enos D. Showalter, with whom she shared the joys and sorrows of life for nearly 52 years. This union was blessed with 16 children. Laura committed her life to the Lord in her youth. She left us an outstanding example of loyalty as a wife and mother.
Laura is survived by her husband, Enos D. Showalter; sixteen children, Lena Showalter, Mt. Hermon, KY, Emma (Justus) Kulp, Mt. Hermon, KY, Daniel (Keely) Showalter, Glasgow, KY, Ezra (Ruth) Showalter, Dexter, ME, Dorcas Showalter, Mt. Hermon, KY, Della Showalter, Mt. Hermon, KY, Seth (Julia) Showalter, Grandview, TX, Silas (Judith) Showalter, Mt. Hermon, KY, Sarah Showalter, Dexter, ME, Susan (Eric) Troyer, Tompkinsville, KY, Phebe Showalter, Mt. Hermon, KY, Ida (Dan) Harris, Alum Bank, PA, Keturah (Samuel) Waight, Labanon, MO, Simeon (Charlene) Showalter, South Wayne, WI, Anna (Amos) Byers, South Wayne, WI, and Lois (Josiah) Hostetler, Browntown, WI; sixty grandchildren and one great grandchild; one brother; three sisters; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. She was loved, and her caring, pleasant personality will be sadly missed. Laura was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters; five brothers; and one granddaughter.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Jordan Creek AM Church, 2526 County Road D, South Wayne. Following the noon meal, funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 10, in the Monroe County Mennonite Church, Mt. Hermon, Kentucky.
