Aston Villa 2-4 Arsenal

Arsenal won for the first time in five games on Saturday thanks to a stoppage-time own goal by Aston Villa keeper Emiliano Martinez.

The Premier League match looked set to end in a draw until Jorginho thundered in a long-range shot in the 93rd minute.

Jorginho’s effort hit the underside of the crossbar before bouncing onto the head of Martinez and defecting into the back of the Villa net.

Former Arsenal keeper Martinez had earlier received a yellow card for time-wasting.

Martinez went up for a Villa corner in the 98th minute in an effort to atone for his own goal.

But his day got even worse as Arsenal launched a counter-attack that resulted in Gabriel Martinelli running the ball into an empty net.

Arsenal’s victory came after they had twice fallen behind to Villa.

Ollie Watkins and Philippe Coutinho netted for Villa in the first half either side of a fine Bukayo Saka equalizer.

Oleksandr Zinchenko then scored Arsenal’s second leveler of the day with his first ever goal for the club shortly after the hour-mark.

Hollywood actor and celebrity Villa fan Tom Hanks was among the crowd.
