NFL safety Landon Collins is returning to the team that drafted him in 2015. Collins is signing with the New York Giants and heading to London to join the team, Collins told CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson.
The 28-year-old Collins worked out with the Giants earlier this week.
Collins played four seasons with the Giants, where he collected eight interceptions and four sacks in 59 games. He signed a six-year, $84 million contract with the Washington Commanders in 2019 as a free agent.
Collins spent three up-and-down seasons in Washington. Last season, he finally appeared to get his footing, playing in a hybrid safety/linebacker role. However, the team released him in June after he refused to restructure his contract.
Collins said, “I’ll take my chances in free agency” if the aftermath of his release.
However, the interest from other teams wasn’t there, as he remained unsigned at the start of the season.
Now, Collins will rejoin the Giants where he made three Pro Bowls and was named an All-Pro in 2018. The Giants are 3-1 on the season. The G-Men are slated to play the Green Bay Packers in London on Sunday.
