Lampard makes big claim about Maupay

Maupay #Maupay

Everton boss Frank Lampard has now made a big claim about Neal Maupay in his pre-West Ham programme notes.

Maupay made the switch to Everton from Brighton this summer and made his debut against Liverpool just over two weeks ago.

In the absence of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the 26-year-old was handed his first start in the Merseyside derby.

Apart from missing a big chance to score, Maupay put in an impressive display with his tireless workrate.

And the Frenchman has certainly made an impression on his new boss during the goalless draw.

Lampard addressed Everton fans in the pre-match programme for the game against West Ham today.

The English boss spoke about new signings Maupay, Idrissa Gueye and James Garner.

And Lampard feels Maupay will score lots of goals for Everton if he plays like he did against Liverpool.

“Neal Maupay made his Everton debut and he did very well,” Lampard said.

“He worked exceptionally hard and his movement was terrific.

“He gives us a different dimension in attack and, if he keeps playing like that, he’ll score plenty of goals for us.”

Maupay was a reliable performer under Graham Potter for the Seagulls but only managed to reach 10 goals in the Premier League once.

The French striker cannot be faulted for his all-round play and work ethic but has struggled to become a clinical finisher during his time in England’s top flight.

But Maupay did score 25 goals in the Championship for Brentford the season before he made the switch to the Seagulls.

Lampard will be hoping Maupay can form a solid partnership with Calvert-Lewin and rediscover his clinical scoring touch.
