LBJ is 16 points away from NBA history at the half.

19-time All-Star Los Angeles Lakers power forward LeBron James is just 16 points away from making NBA history tonight, as his Los Angeles Lakers host a scrappy young Oklahoma City Thunder.

It’s a star-studded affair tonight, as you’ll notice in the clip below.

James has 20 points in the game’s first half (the second-most he has scored in a half this season), pacing Los Angeles. He’s scored those 20 points in a variety of ways, none more effective than his interior drives. He is 6-of-8 from the charity stripe and 6-of-10 from the floor. Check these back-to-back three-point plays:

At the half, TNT’s Shaquille O’Neal, a former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate of James, was optimistic he would break Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record this evening:

LeBron’s Lakers trail the younger, longer and more athletic Oklahoma City Thunder by double digits after a defense-free first half, 76-66.
