A mid-morning shooting on Eastern Boulevard left one woman dead and a man critically injured Monday, according to the Montgomery Police Department.
Police officers and fire medics responded to the 1400 block of Eastern Boulevard around 10:15 a.m. to find the two people who had sustained gunshot wounds. Officials pronounced the woman dead on the scene and took the man to a nearby hospital for medical care.
MPD did not release either victim’s name on Monday.
Montgomery residents speculated online about the shooting throughout the morning as individuals posted photos and videos of the police presence outside of the Motel 6 on Eastern Boulevard.
A spokesperson said a person of interest has been taken into custody, but it is undetermined how the person was involved in the shooting, if at all. MPD said the homicide investigation remains ongoing.
