Update:

Per Mavericks PR, Irving (right foot) will not return to Friday night’s game in Portland.

Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving exited Friday night’s game vs. the Portland Trailblazers midway through the second quarter after taking a hard fall while driving to the basket.

He was subsequently fallen on top of by Mavs forward Dwight Powell as the latter attempted to fight for a rebound.

The play occurred with just under four minutes left in the second quarter with the Mavericks leading the Blazers 54-46. Irving drove the ball down into the lane and collided with Portland defenders Scoot Henderson and Duop Reath. Irving shot the ball, was fouled and fell to the floor, and as Powell attempted to reach over Reath for a rebound, he fell directly on top of Irving’s right leg/foot.

He then gingerly walked off the floor and down the tunnel to the Mavs locker room. He did not return to the floor at the start of the second half.

Irving had scored 11 points and added two assists to that point in the game. This season Irving is averaging a tick under 24 points per game in a tick under 33 minutes, shooting 46.7% from the field and 38.4% from deep.
