Kylian Mbappe insists he’s not annoyed after his goal against Bayern Munich was disallowed and claims PSG can still win the Champions League tie.

Bayern won 1-0 at PSG on Tuesday night, courtesy of sublime volley from Kingsley Coman who once again haunted his former club after scoring the winner against them in the 2020 final.

Mbappe, who was not 100% fit, came off the bench and had a great impact on the game, finding the back of the net twice but on each occasion was denied by the offside flag.

While the first incident was very clear cut, the second was extremely tight, with VAR ruling that Nuno Mendes was only a fraction offside in the build-up.

While ultimately the right call, the tightness of the offside has once again led some to complain about how VAR has ruined football, but Mbappe didn’t seem to share his opinion.

Asked about his disallowed equaliser, the French forward said: ‘That’s how it is, it’s the new football. There is the VAR, if there was offside, it means there was offside so there is no problem and you have to switch quickly.

‘Quickly move on, keep the positives and really go out there to qualify because from what I’ve seen, there’s room.

‘It was complicated, it was unpredictable. I wasn’t supposed to play but I wanted to play, help friends, bring energy.

‘We tried everything, we worked day and night, we managed to have a match, it was not what I wanted. I always want to play but sometimes you have to be content with what you can do and today I could only do that.’

PSG have never won the Champions League and with Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Neymar among their ranks, the Ligue 1 champions are desperate to lift the elusive trophy.

They’ll have their work cut out overturning Bayern’s advantage however given just how strong they were at the Parc de Princes, with the second-leg to be held at the Allianz Arena on March 8th.

‘You have to remember the end [of tonight’s game]. We can put them in difficulty on what I saw,’ Mbappe added.

‘Everyone just needs to be healthy, eat well and sleep well. When we have our team, we can put them in difficulty and they are not comfortable. We will go there to win and qualify. Let’s quickly move on.’
