NEW YORK — An MRI confirmed that Knicks rookie Obi Toppin has been diagnosed with a right calf strain, the team announced on Saturday.

Toppin will be re-evaluated in seven to ten days. The Knicks are scheduled to play four games in the next week.

Toppin was injured in the Knicks season opener against the Pacers on Dec. 23. He scored nine points and had three rebounds and two blocks in 24 minutes of playing time. The Knicks lost that game 121-107.

The Knicks selected Toppin with the eighth pick in the 2020 Draft. 22-year-old Toppin, who was born in Brooklyn, played for the Dayton Flyers for two years and declared for the draft after his redshirt sophomore season.
