Klay Thompson had an incredible quote about Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.
On Thursday evening, Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors defeated the Los Angeles Lakers by a score of 127-100 in Game 2 of their second-round playoff series.
Klay Thompson was brilliant, putting up 30 points, three rebounds and one assist in only 31 minutes of playing time.
The five-time All-Star also shot an outstanding 11/18 from the field and 8/11 from the three-point range.
Thompson has helped lead the Warriors to four NBA Championships (and six NBA Finals appearances), but this is his first time going up against the Lakers in a series.
He is from Los Angeles, and his father (Mychal Thompson) played for the Lakers and helped them win two NBA Championships.
Games 3 and 4 of the series will be in Los Angeles, and Thompson shared his feelings about playing in his hometown.
Thompson: “It’s such an incredible experience to play in front of my friends and family. I would go to Staples as a high school basketball player with my pops, just dreaming of playing on that floor, playing against the best in the world. Now being here and being a part of it, I don’t lose sight of that prescriptive of how great this opportunity is. I’m just excited to do it in a building where all my hoop dreams came about.”
The 33-year-old shooting guard also brought up Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.
Thompson: “I’m a huge Kobe fan. Obviously, he was my biggest inspiration. I’m just gonna play my hardest to honestly honor him and Gigi because, without his play and all those years me viewing his tenacity on the court, I would not be the athlete I am today.”
Game 3 will be on Saturday night.
