Klay gushes about Steph’s epic 43-point performance in Game 4

Klay Thompson was just as in awe of Steph Curry’s monster 43-point performance as the rest of us watching from home.

And he had a front-row seat.

After the Warriors’ 107-97 win over the Boston Celtics in Game 4 of the NBA Finals at TD Garden on Friday night, Thompson discussed Curry’s historic performance and reveled in his fellow Splash Brother’s ability to carry the team on his back on the biggest stage.

“I think I have seen him show that much emotion, and the heart on that man is incredible,” Thompson told reporters after the game. “You know, the things he does we kind of take for granted from time to time but to go out there and put us on his back, I mean, we got to help him out on Monday. Wow, just showed why he is — shocking he wasn’t a First Team All-NBA guy, but whatever, next year.”

Curry certainly is no stranger to 40-point games as he has littered them throughout each and every season. But a 40-plus point game in the Finals? Klay believes Curry’s performance in Game 4 is his best Finals performance ever.

“I think probably No. 1,” Thompson said when asked where Friday night’s performance ranked in Curry’s career. “I mean, this was nearly a must-win game, and to go out there and shoot as efficiently as he did, and grab 10 rebounds and they were attacking him on defense; I mean, his conditioning is second-to-none in this league.

“Steph played incredible.”

Believe it or not, Curry’s 43 points in Game 4 is not his career-high in a single Finals game. In Game 3 of the 2019 NBA Finals series against the Toronto Raptors, Curry scored 47 points in 43 minutes of action in a losing effort that preceded an eventual series loss in six games.

The Warriors are hoping for a much different result in this series.
