Kirk Cousins earns first career Monday Night Football victory

As the starting quarterback of the Washington Football Team, Kirk Cousins started six games for the Burgundy and Gold on Monday Night Football. Each one ended in a Washington loss.

Those Monday night woes have carried over to Minnesota, too, where Cousins has been the starting quarterback the last three seasons. Entering the Vikings’ Week 10 matchup with Chicago, Cousins was 0-9 for his career on Monday Night Football.

Those primetime struggles were finally put to rest on Monday, though, as Cousins led the Vikings to a 19-13 victory over the Bears for the QB’s first career win on Monday Night Football.

The victory was Minnesota’s third straight after starting the season 1-5. For Chicago, the loss was their fourth straight after starting the season 5-1.

Cousins didn’t necessarily ‘wow’ on Monday evening, but the veteran signal-caller was efficient and made clutch throws when he needed to. Cousins completed 25-of-36 passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns, and his lone interception came on a dropped pass from wideout Adam Thielen.

Thielen would make up for his error, however. The Vikings top wideout would find the end zone twice on the evening, with the second score the deciding one on the contest. Rookie pass-catcher Justin Jefferson also thrived for Minnesota, as he hauled in eight catches for 135 yards.

The victory was also extra special for Cousins because it was also his first win over Chicago since he signed with Minnesota in 2018. The Bears had defeated Minnesota in the past four clashes between the two clubs.
