Kevin De Bruyne assist: Man City man produces insane pass vs Newcastle

De Bruyne #DeBruyne

Kevin De Bruyne produced a stunning assist as Newcastle and Manchester City played out a quite incredible 3-3 draw at St James’ Park.

Despite the home side going 1-0 down after just five minutes thanks to Ilkay Gundogan’s strike, Newcastle responded in brilliant fashion as they took the game to Pep Guardiola’s champions.

They were level when Almiron produced an unorthodox finish with his thigh from Allan Saint-Maximin’s cross. The goal was initially disallowed but Almiron was clearly onside and hadn’t used his hand so VAR allowed the goal.

Ten minutes later, the roof was taken off St James’ Park when Callum Wilson finished superbly from Saint-Maximin’s pass.

Newcastle made it 3-2 in the second half when Kieran Trippier fired home a quite brilliant free-kick past Ederson from 20 yards.

City pulled a goal back on the hour mark through Erling Haaland.

Then it was time for De Bruyne’s sensational pass. The Belgian midfielder somehow saw Bernardo Silva’s run and played a delightful through ball to his teammate who finished cooly.

What. A. Pass

City weren’t able to go on to win the match – which is surely the game of the season so far.

But there was still time for more drama as Trippier was initially sent off for his foul on De Bruyne before VAR reduced his punishment to a yellow card.

To be fair to Trippier, you couldn’t exactly blame him for trying to stop De Bruyne because he’s just amazing in this kind of form.

However, his challenge wasn’t deemed dangerous enough to warrant a straight red card – a decision we have to agree with.

But it was a sensational match for the neutral as Newcastle really went for it against City despite going 1-0 down early on.

And even though they led 3-1 in the second half, their home crowd were celebrating the final whistle being blown a taking a point. That just about sums up how crazy the match really was…
