Kerry Morton Doesn’t Have A New Attitude, He Had An Epiphany About His Career

Kerry Morton doesn’t want to hear his recent attitude change is disrespectful from anyone, especially from Bill Apter.

NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion Kerry Morton recently sat down with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard. When asked about his recent change of attitude in the National Wrestling Alliance as of late, Morton doesn’t see it as a new attitude.

“I don’t necessarily think there’s been a new attitude,” Kerry Morton said. “Comfort, I should say. In professional wrestling and entertainment, people tend to be someone that they’re actually not. Right? Maybe you could agree with that. They tend to be somebody that they’re not.

“What I realized early on in my career during the pandemic wrestling for these promotions is that people are jealous and they’re not happy that you’re in the spotlight and you’re as good as you say you are. So that being said, I’ve been given this epiphany of, ‘Alright, Kerry, I’m no longer here to please anyone.’”

Morton says he figured out that he needed to please himself and the promoters that pay him too. His change in ‘comfort’ was also helped along by some of the endorsements he’s received.

“It was the change of attitude that, ‘Okay, I’m the NWA Jr. Heavyweight Champion. I’m endorsed by Ric Flair, Bret Hart, Jim Cornette, Jim Ross. I’m endorsed by all the legends that say, ‘Hey, this is my number one draft pick in all of professional wrestling.’ I’m trying to stay humbled, and I am humbled, very much so, to the idea of to the extent of, ‘Okay, if I’m gonna put asses in seats. If I’m gonna be everything that I say I’m gonna be, then I need to let the fans know it.’”

Pritchard noted that Morton’s new attitude was on display during a recent SportsKeeda interview between his father and Bill Apter. Kerry cut the interview off early, then told the legendary wrestling journalist what he could do if he felt disrespected.

“Bill Apter’s gonna come at me and say, ‘You’re disrespectful.’ Bill, you can kiss my ass. That’s what I have to say too. Bill Apter, I hope you’re watching this because I’m gonna see you in Ohio in the future, and I’m gonna say it to your face. Might grab that microphone of yours and throw it on the ground and step on it. That’s what kind of attitude I have now.”
