The Philadelphia Eagles traded defensive tackle Kentavius Street and a 2025 seventh-round pick to the Atlanta Falcons on Monday for a 2024 sixth-round pick.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones, the sixth-round pick is conditional on Street playing six games with the Falcons. Ostensibly, it would be a seventh-rounder if those conditions aren’t met.
NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe added that the Falcons “have been sniffing around for more pass rush upgrades ahead of trade deadline.”
The Street deal comes in the wake of Atlanta’s veteran defensive tackle, Grady Jarrett, suffering a torn ACL during Sunday’s loss to the Tennessee Titans. Jarrett, a two-time Pro Bowler and a defensive captain this season, has been a staple in the interior of Atlanta’s defensive line during his nine-year career.
“Foundationally, how we run the defense in general, I don’t think it’ll change much,” defensive lineman Ta’Quon Graham told ESPN’s Michael Rothstein on Sunday. “I think maybe small details here and there that might come from him. I think it is going to be the next man up mentality… I think the next person will step up and fill in as best as they can.”
“He’s a leader in this locker room,” safety Jessie Bates III added. “But his voice will still be out there. We’ll be alright.”
Street, 27, has appeared in eight games for the Eagles this season, registering four tackles. In stops with the San Francisco 49ers (2019-21), New Orleans Saints (2022) and now the Eagles and Falcons this season, Street has 6.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss in 60 career games.
The Eagles, meanwhile, have excellent depth at defensive tackle, with long-time star Fletcher Cox, standout rookie Jalen Carter, promising second-year behemoth Jordan Davis and solid rotational option Milton Williams all available. Defensive end Brandon Graham is also capable of playing on the interior on passing downs.
Philly has been one of the busier teams ahead of the Tuesday trade deadline, acquiring star safety Kevin Byard from the Tennessee Titans last week. They also signed veteran wideout Julio Jones to bolster their receiving depth behind the star pairing of A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
