Kraven the Hunter, a Marvel villain has inspired a ‘Spider-man’ spin-off solo movie and the lead role of Sergei Kravinoff aka Kraven has reportedly been offered to ‘John Wick’ and ‘Matrix’ star Keanu Reeves by Sony. The offer, according to media reports has been made, however, so far there has been no official confirmation from either Sony or Reeves.
This is also not the very first time that news of Reeves being offered a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe made headlines. However, this time around, it seems that fans may not be too happy with the casting choice. In fact, it was also rumored that the actor may very well star in the reboot of the ‘Ghost Rider’ series which had previously starred Nicholas Cage in the lead role.

Not just that, Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios had said in an interview with Comic Book that they talk to Reeves for almost every film they make. He had said, “We talk to him for almost every film we make,” and added, “We talk to Keanu Reeves about. I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it.”

In 1959, Nick Fury had approached Kraven when he had been chilling with his then girlfriend Namora to scout him for his black ops team Avengers. He was part of the New Avengers which also included his nemesis Creed, who Sergei had shot in the chest during a previous scuffle in Africa. Of course, Fury had made it very clear that the two of them would have to work together if they were to be a part of the Avengers teams. That is how the two of them worked together in hunting down Red Skull and his newly formed Fourth Reich in Sweden while Red Skull had been busy making a super soldier formula.
Keanu Reeves vs Jeffrey Dean Morgan:
Actor Keanu Reeves is not the right fit for Sergei Kravinoff believe many fans who have taken to Twitter to say as much. They have expressed that as much as they love Reeves, and have nothing against the ‘John Wick’ star, he just might not be the one. Instead, many believe that Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a better fit for the character. The star who has played popular roles in ‘Supernatural’ and ‘The Walking Dead’ seems to be a fan-favorite among many.

One fan wrote, “So, you’re going to offer the role of Kraven to Reeves when you’ve got Jeffrey Dean Morgan right there?” to which another responded, “I don’t know who Kraven is but we all need more JDM in our lives.” There was another fan who tweeted, “Y’all know how much I love Keanu, and Kraven is one of my favorite Spider-Man villains, but I just don’t think this is the right pairing. I’d rather see someone like Gerard Butler, or Edgar Ramirez in the role.”
Another fan dropped ‘The Boys’ star Karl Urban’s name and said, “As much as I love Keanu Reeves, I’d rather someone more over the top to be Kraven the Hunter like Karl Urban or even Pedro Pascal.” Another also spoke of Jeffrey Dean Morgan and said, “Kraven is my favorite Spidey villain and I love me some Keanu, but I’m not sure about this one. Personally I would like to have seen our neighbor @JDMorgan get cast in the role of Kraven The Hunter.” One fan seemed to agree with the consensus and said, “@MarvelStudios I understand the need to get Keanu Reeves into the MCU, but I don’t think Kraven is the play. Fans are suggesting Jeffrey Dean Morgan which would be a nice choice.”
There have also been speculations of both Kraven and the Chameleon appearing as villains in the upcoming ‘Spider-Man’ film. So it would be interesting to see how the casting of the ‘Spider-Man’ verse plays out.
