Kampf, Suter not extended qualifying offers by Hawks

The Blackhawks submitted qualifying offers to forwards Brandon Hagel and Alex Nylander and defenseman Nikita Zadorov, the team announced ahead of Monday’s 4 p.m. CT deadline.

Forwards Josh Dickinson, Adam Gaudette, David Kampf and Pius Suter did not receive one, which means their rights no longer belong to the Blackhawks and they will hit the open market when free agency opens on Wednesday if they do not re-sign in Chicago.

Minutes after the Blackhawks announced their qualifying offer list, Gaudette agreed to a one-year contract that carries a $997,500 cap hit. It’s possible Kampf, who was eligible for arbitration, could agree on an extension before Wednesday as well, considering he was protected in the expansion draft.

Suter, on the other hand, may be wearing a different uniform next season. According to his agent Georges Müller, negotiations between the two sides “didn’t lead anywhere yet” and it “looks like he’ll become an unrestricted free agent by Wednesday.”

Suter, 25, recorded 14 goals and 13 assists for 27 points in 55 games this season with the Blackhawks. His 14 goals ranked fifth among all rookies and 27 points ranked tied for sixth.
