Kamala Harris’ Favorability Rating Higher Than Trump, Pence and Biden’s: Poll

California Senator Kamala Harris has a higher net favorability rating than President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden, according to a new poll.

According to the survey conducted by ABC News/Ipsos, Harris received a net favorability rating of positive four, as 35 percent of respondents had a favorable opinion of her, compared with 31 percent that had an unfavorable one.

The poll shows Biden received a slightly lower net favorability rating of negative three: 40 percent favorable and 43 percent unfavorable.

In comparison, the poll found Trump and Pence received much lower net favorability ratings. Respondents gave Pence a negative 14 net favorability rating, as 31 percent said they had a favorable opinion of the vice president while 45 percent said the opposite.

The poll found Trump received the lowest net favorability rating, negative 23, as 58 percent said they had an unfavorable opinion and 35 percent said they had a favorable one.

The poll surveyed 1,044 U.S. adults from August 11 to 12 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.3 percentage points.

Despite Harris receiving a higher net favorability rating than the others, a separate poll found the California senator trailing Pence in favorability within their own political parties.

According to the survey conducted by The Economist/YouGov, Harris trails Pence in favorability by 15 percentage points. Sixty-four percent of Democrats said they had a favorable view of Harris, compared with 79 percent of Republicans that said the same for Pence.

The poll’s findings come shortly after Biden announced his selection of Harris as his running mate.

“I have the great honor to announce that I’ve picked @KamalaHarris – a fearless fighter for the little guy and one of the country’s finest public servants – as my running mate,” Biden tweeted.

In another tweet, Biden described the California senator as “smart, tough, and ready to lead.”

The ABC News/Ipsos poll also had respondents giving Biden a positive mark for choosing Harris. Forty percent said they approve of Biden’s decision, while 23 percent said the opposite. Among the remaining percentages, 27 percent said they had no opinion and 9 percent said they didn’t know.

Twenty-two percent of respondents rated Biden’s choice of Harris as excellent, while 23 percent said it was good. Comparatively, 10 percent rated his choice as “not so good,” and 17 percent said it was poor.

Newsweek reached out to Harris for comment but did not receive a response in time for publication.
